Understanding the Midnight Reset on Your Timesheet
If you work a night shift using the Cloudica™ Desktop App, you might notice at the end of your shift that your displayed work hours don't quite match the total time you spent on the clock.
Don't worry—this isn't a bug! It is simply our system's automatic midnight reset.
To keep our records organized and ready for payroll, the Cloudica™ Desktop App tracks time based on the actual calendar date rather than the specific start and end times of an individual shift.
How It Works
The system treats every new day (starting at 12:00 AM) as a fresh page. Because of this, time is recorded in two distinct parts for team members working overnight:
Before Midnight: All hours worked up until 11:59 PM are logged under the day you started your shift.
After Midnight: At exactly 12:00 AM, the app timer resets to zero. Your previous hours haven't disappeared; the system has simply started a new log for the new calendar day.
What to Expect During an Overnight Shift
If you are logged into the Cloudica™ Desktop App during the midnight transition, here is exactly what you will see:
The Transition: You don't need to log out and back in. The app handles the switch automatically in the background while you keep working.
The Dashboard View: When you check your Web Dashboard, a single night shift will appear as two separate entries—one for the hours worked before midnight (Day 1) and one for the hours worked after midnight (Day 2).
Breakdown of the Shift Cycle
To visualize how your hours flow through the system, here is how a typical overnight shift is logged:
Start of Shift to 11:59 PM: The app actively tracks your time and logs it entirely to Day 1.
At 12:00 AM: An automatic system reset occurs, seamlessly starting a brand-new time entry.
12:00 AM to End of Shift: The app resumes active tracking, logging all remaining hours to Day 2.
Quick Tip: Because this standard system behavior is designed to keep daily reporting perfectly accurate, remember to combine the totals from both calendar dates when reviewing your total hours for a single overnight shift.
