If a large camera icon or badge pops up on your screen every time the Cloudica™ Desktop App takes a snapshot, you are seeing an On-Screen Display (OSD) notification.
This isn't actually a Cloudica™ bug—it’s a built-in Windows privacy feature designed for laptops without physical camera lights, or an overlay triggered by proprietary manufacturer software (like Lenovo Vantage, Logi Tune, or HP Command Center).
While it's a great privacy feature, it can get distracting. If you'd prefer to turn it off, here are the two best ways to do it.
Method 1: The Windows Registry Fix
This method tells Windows that your device doesn't need an on-screen warning. Note: Modifying the registry requires Administrator access. Be sure to follow these steps carefully, as changing the wrong registry keys can affect system performance.
1. Press Win + R on your keyboard, type regedit, and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to run it as an administrator.
2. Copy and paste the following path into the address bar at the top of the Registry window, then hit Enter:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OEM\Device\Capture
3. Look for a file named NoPhysicalCameraLED in the right-hand pane.
If it exists: Double-click it to open.
If it doesn't exist: Right-click on any empty space in the right pane, select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name it exactly NoPhysicalCameraLED.
4. Change the Value Data to 0 ( this tells Windows you want to disable the on-screen notification overlay; 1 enables it).
Click OK.
5. To apply the changes, reboot your computer. Alternatively, you can open Task Manager and restart Windows Explorer.
Method 2: Check Your Laptop Manufacturer Software
If the registry fix didn't do the trick, the notification is likely being generated by utility software pre-installed by your device manufacturer. Here is where to look for the most common brands:
Lenovo (ThinkPad / IdeaPad)
Lenovo laptops often feature large, signature green or white camera indicators.
Open the Lenovo Vantage or Lenovo Hotkeys app.
Navigate to Device > Display & Camera.
Look for Camera Privacy Mode or On-Screen Display settings and toggle the notifications off.
Logitech (External Webcams)
If you use an external Logitech webcam, the software managing your camera might be controlling the overlay.
Open Logi Tune or G HUB.
Go to Settings (the gear icon).
Under the notifications or alerts section, uncheck any prompts related to camera status overlays.
Other Manufacturers (HP, Dell, ASUS)
For other brands, look for proprietary apps like HP Command Center, Dell Perimeter Guard, or ASUS Armoury Crate. Check their Display, Accessory, or Hotkey settings tabs to toggle off sensory and status overlays.
